PRODUCTIVITY.

LET ME SHOW YOU SOME WORK FROM THE MOST PRODUCTIVE WEEK EVER, INTERNET.
I've had an INSANELY productive week - I don't think I've ever completed so many projects in a week's time. FEELS GOOD, MAN.
So here's a ginormous update of astronauts, pugs, floppy discs, and beavers.

First off:
A 'text as image' project based on the song Yulia by Wolf Parade

My instructor tried really hard to find something wrong with it - she ended up taking issue with the fact that I was making art about something I hadn't experienced myself.
... YEP. :V

Next up, I worked on a 'moving image' assignment for another studio class. I created a stopmotion-esque (it's more of a.. montage?) piece using paper cut outs about A LITTLE PRISM PUGGG. Here are some still images and the animation itself - spoiler alert, the pugs shoot rainbows out of their mouths.

Music by Architecture in Helsinki

This next piece (to your right!) is a project I completed for my contemporary drawing class - I'd hinted at it in my last post, but here it is, all complete-like. This was my first time stenciling+spray painting. It took a PAINFULLY long time to create the stencil, it actually fell apart at one point and I had to build it/tape it again. NOT FUN.
It's also 3x3 feet and weighs .. a lot.

Finally .. every year I do some work for a friend of my dad's who runs a curling tournament. This year he requested a Beaver biting a curling broom (stick? lolwat). So here's the finished drawing on a wine label!

KIND OF NEAT?

OH! OH! AND ALSO, I MADE POKEBALL CUPCAKES?

DIGITAL.

HEY AN UPDATE!
A huuuuuge (huge!) portion of my work on is digital. I have a Wacom Intuos4 and it's literally the most useful thing I own - after first using a tablet, I'm not sure how I ever lived without one. Sooo, here's some recent stuff I've completed.

some quick character sketches (requests!)

and.. a pixel'd skull. A preview for a larger project I'm working on (say whaaaat!?)! Before I got my tablet, the majority of my digital work was pixel art. Working on this had me feeling all nostalgic!
Along with this digital work, I've been doing a lot of drawing for an upcoming game project for school - Flint & Burt. Expect a post on that soon! I'll update when I'm not feeling like a bag of germs (damn you, flu!)

also, since my last update this blog has 100% more LINKS! Check out the links I've added to your right - I'm lucky to know some pretty talented people.

ALL IS LOVE.

Happy Valentine's Day! ♥ ♥ ♥

I love Valentine's and I don't care who knows it! Red is my favourite colour, I have a great appreciation for sparkles and doilies, and I live for bad (GOOD?) puns. I just love the whole aesthetic of the holiday.

Sooo, to your right is my Valentine for you, Internet. Props to my buddy Jason for coming up with the text - marketing genius, that one.

and! here's the valentine I made especially for my boyfriendo:

BEATDOWN

I finished a class assignment in which we had to create a piece that had certain buzz words from a presentation we gave on artists we could compare our work to (Jamie Hewlett, Ashley Wood, Junko Mizuno and Amanda Visell were the ones I chose! ...in case you were wondering. :V I admire their work a whole lot)
So.. I had to create something with a social message that was relevant to the times. It had to be cute, stylish, and grotesque with an incredibly wide variety of media used and lots of texture. It also had to have a 'punk art' style. I struggled with these words and finding an idea I was happy with. I had an awful block - in the end, I said:
"Fuck it, I'm drawing what I want."
^ that's pretty punk, right?

So, here's 'Unflattering Portraits of Friends':

The tri-folding ones are 8x10, the round ones are a little larger.

I'm really not sure why I enjoy drawing people (friends, no less!) looking all beat-up/bloody. Working on these few drawings, I came up with an EPIC PROCESS of using mylar/stonehenge with graphite+ink+chalk pastel+water colours - so much fun. I hope to work like this again!
.. also putting my stuff in a frame is a new thing. I picked those up at a thrift store and I think they add a lot to the work! I need to find more of those round ones, especially. Sweeeeeet find!
Thanks to my friends who let me draw them this way, I hope you like them!

In the same drawing class, we're working on a group drawing. The class was split into two, and right now I'm working with the group on a piece about 'Hope'. I thought it'd be cool to see how the drawing changes as people from the class add their input to it.

HYDRO PUMP.

WHO'S THAT POKEMON?

IIIITTTTT'S BLASTOISE.
Finished a 4ftx3ft abstraction drawing for class.
It was a painful process..
I took the pokemon gold gbc sprite and altered it/resized it to make it huuuuge. Each pixel was meticulously measured and drawn with.. a floppy disc, haha. This took a long time, I'm happy to be finished!

FEELS GOOD, MAN.

FRESH.

Hi internet,

My name's Karlee and I make art - mostly drawings.
Part of my new years resolution is to keep up a proper artblog, so here you go - better (fashionably) late than never! :'D

I did nothing but digital draw-rings over this winter break. Lots of art for other people, too. Experimented with a bunch of different techniques, it was a good learning experience. :0

... okay, wait, that first statement is a lie. I worked on a pencil drawing for my mum for Christmas:

aaaaand here are some photos of a recent project I did for class based around a 'rant' theme. Drew all over some receipt paper from work! I think that the image of me looking thrilled/holding a chihuahua might be the best/most accurate self portrait I've ever done.
